About our Organization

Founder, Kim Keene
March 22, 1969 - September 16, 2024
Kim was a breast cancer warrior, diagnosed in 2017. She experienced first-hand the increased challenges of keeping up with everyday chores and responsibilities that many face during a prolonged illness. She realized how fortunate she was to have a strong support system of family and friends to help, and she wanted to pay it forward to others that are less fortunate.
Art was always at the forefront of Kim’s life. She discovered her passion at a young age, majored in art in college, and ultimately becoming a professional artist. She opened the Starving Artist Café, a North Colley eatery featuring the work of various local artists. While undergoing treatment for breast cancer, she focused on her art to bring her peace and purpose at a time when anxiety and uncertainty could have taken over. For her, brushstrokes were calming and rejuvenating.
When Kim’s cancer returned in 2022, she sold The Starving Artist but continued to paint. Combining her sense of compassion with her love of art, she founded Paint Pink Inc in July of 2023. Kim was determined to provide help and support to others, so those living with cancer could focus on getting healthy without the stress of everyday life situations.
Sadly, Kim lost her battle on September 16, 2024. Her amazing spirit, hope and contagious energy live through her legacy of Paint Pink Inc.
Paint Pink is an all-volunteer organization, run by a board of directors that all have a passion for the mission and a commitment to carrying on Kim Keene's vision for those battling cancer.
